Nowadays, environment is one of the important factors that stimulates the development of a city and a country. With the intention of promoting the environment and serving the masses, urban landscaping directly influences the ecological environmental quality. Hence, the greening of the parks will be the representation of the local’s all-round strength.Located in the Shahe higher education park, Changping district, Beijing, the design of the university park, with an area of 6.92 hectares, intends to be a residential district park concerned with recreation activities. By combining greenness and activities, and by its humanization design and sustainable design, this park meet the requirement of a variety places of residents. It is a ecological and natural environment, and at the same time, it provides the residents with convenient services and people-oriented places to live. This paper, after analyzing the development and the current design situation of the park, points out that its importance and the problems, and concludes that its reasonable optimization principles. Under the guidance of the overall ideas, it elaborates the key points of design from landscape space integration to concrete landscape elements.First, in terms of dealing with the ground, undulated terrain should be created in the current ground to enrich the landscape; drainage slope should be made to collect rainwater, which will, by the filtration of the plant and soil, decrease overland runoff, and replenish underground water by letting rainwater infiltrate into underground naturally.Second, in terms of choosing plants. Those local trees should mainly be planted to enrich plant landscape and enhance the ratio of the green space. With functions of purifying air, adjusting climate, reducing noise, it can improve environment, attract little animals and thus can increase species diversity.Third, in terms of functions, children playing space and the recreation facilities that suit different ages of children should be built to meet the requirement of children. Different scales of play ground and green space should be designed to make available to those different ages of residents to rest. Beside the school’s park green space, some small activity spaces should be built to those parents who wait for the children after school, but be sure that those areas should be built near the city main lines and the school to make available to the parents to pick up their children.
