Generic cabling system is the infrastructure of modern intelligent building. With the rapid development of intelligent building, Generic cabling technology is not keeping pace, the main reason is that the system diagram design, construction plan design and engineering budget in generic cabling engineering still remain in the manual stage; they did not realize the computer aided design. The whole process of cabling works, design staff workload is very large and prone to make a mistake. Some companies develop generic cabling system at home and abroad, but these systems are either specific to their own products, or the bias of generic cabling material management, or partial to construction schedule management, or developed by software designers, who only have the ability of software development, lack of some generic cabling knowledge of theory, design and construction experience. It is more or less deviation from the actual construction and it is difficult to guide the actual construction.In this paper, firstly, we analyze the application and the importance about generic cabling technology in the intelligent building, the background and features of generic cabling.Secondly, how to divide the structure of generic cabling system in the national standard, as well as what function will achieve in every subsystem. What is important is that we master the characteristics, the design requirements of subsystems and statistical methods for related materials. Thirdly, we analysis the feasibility to achieve the generic cabling integrated environment through a variety of means, plan out this environment of the whole structure,decompose the corresponding module according to their functions, then complete the modular design of the environment. Then, we analysis of key technology in the implementation of this environment, using object-oriented technology and database technology, the equipment and cable are abstracted as object in generic cabling engineering,and stored them in the database. Under the framework of.NET, we carry on the secondary development of Auto CAD using visual programming language C# to develop the generic cabling integrated environment, which meet standards of generic cabling engineering, and realize system diagram design, construction plan design, material statistics, and project budget. Finally, we respectively complete the module function testing of the environment through the seventh teaching building cabling project, the system testing by the whole building cabling project.Through the cabling design of the teaching building proved that generic cabling integrated environment can help designer draw generic cabling system diagram and the construction plan according to a certain project type, complete the material statistics quickly and efficiently, make the project budget. The results provide a great help to construction personnel. Generic cabling integrated environment can not only ensure generic cabling system engineering in strict accordance with the standard construction, in order to improve the quality and level of generic cabling system, reduce cabling designer’s work, but also greatly promote the development and application of generic cabling technology in intelligent building.At present, the generic cabling integrated environment is still in the research and experimental stage, so that the function is imperfect. In future work, we should enhance the ability of identification architectural drawings, enrich graph database, increase the selected cabling path in the generic cabling integrated environment, improve its function to some extent realizing intelligent. In the future, it can be accepted by more designers, make the worker directly complete cabling project according to drawings, finally it will be widely used in generic cabling engineering.
