For a long time the domestic general Top-open train have not consider the ergonomics problems, but in fact this type train is a huge man-machine system, in this system so much different staffs work together for example, shunt worker, load worker, the repairman, cleaner, administrators and so on. It is because the train is a huge machine and worker direct relationship with it, but the train design is not consider the humans needs so that it can easy cause safety accidents. Especially the gate of the train is a prominent problem more link to ergonomics. In recent years the train load capacity is rising, from the30T at1950s to the70t at now, the train change is enormous and gate structure, operating mode but few. Because the man-machine system design is not do very well, so that it have a lot of unsafe elements on it. In this paper is based on general top-open train safety man-machine research and more focus on the general top-open train gate as the main research content. For that at the Chengdu railway station, Lanzhou railway station as well as at the CSR meishan train produce company I have made research materials collection and discussed with the profession, at the same time I collected and analysis all kinds of relevant literature that could be find to deep analysis the top-open train unsafe factors in the actual environment. All of these works are aim at provide ergonomics design ideas for further improvement the general top-open train.
