In recent years, the problem of disordered rural landscape has becoming serious. Moreand more artificial landscape, improper imitate during construction process and overlyfocus on the economics effect all lead to the devastation of the environment. Also, thedesign of the landscape is lack of specialty and creativity. Some boutique rural landscape isshrinking and the inheritance of traditional art value is neglected. The development ofcountry landscape design has entered into a dilemma.In China, there is vast majority of countryside which has many natural and culturespots. It’s aesthetics, environmental, culture and economic value is of great potential. Howto utilize these values into the development of rural landscape has become crucial to us. Arational design of the landscape and the establishment of a comfortable living atmospherecan attract more people come to the rural area and therefore, stimulate the development oflocal economy. Based on the above ideas, this article will mainly focus on theattractiveness of rural landscape design. Supported by some previous rural area projects,the essay will analyze the limitation of current model, compare the traditional designformat and evaluate the obstacles and mechanism of the rural design. Then raise fourpromotion strategies: create unique image, protect environment, promote eco-system anddevelop tourism. The ideal model is to construct a ‘production-life-ecological’ balancecycle and use the assessment of rural landscape attractiveness as a secure system.In the lastsession of the paper, the theoretical knowledge will be applied into the practice of theregional plan of Cherry Valleyof Shanhaiguan.Based on landscape aesthetics, the idiom and integrity of the rural area should be wellprotected. And keeping the ecological and cultural value along with classical Chinesegarden elements in the rural construction is an important task for the sustainable ruraldevelopment in21stcentury.
