Bearing has been widely used in modern industry. The inside and outside rings of the bearing help to maintain the rolling contact between the supporting parts and the rollers. Then this constant rolling contact makes the parts of a machine revolve. The characteristics of a bearing include lower consumption of power, less friction, easier starting, etc. The bearings that are used in high speed railway are one of the most important parts of the trains and their quality is of life and property matter. The double row tapered roller bearings that are used in China’s trains cannot last very long and are not very reliable; therefore, finding out the reasons that caused these problems and improving the quality of the bearings accordingly is a very urgent task for us. Among the many reasons that cause the damage of the bearings, failure in fatigue is the most common one. The paper will start with modal analysis and analyze the vibrations of the bearing by establishing mathematical model through various methods.Firstly a thorough review of the previous analysis of the bearing vibration and its current research situation both in China and abroad, is provided. It focuses on the use and development of the mathematical analysis that has been made by current research. Then it establishes the three-dimensional model as well as the simplified three-dimensional model of a commonly used bearing in China’s high speed railway trains and provides the parameterization of the bearing. Next this paper will work on the roller holder of the bearing by giving a specific analysis and discussion of the characteristics of the roller holder. A model of the roller holder containing all the6degrees of freedom will be established by using the transfer matrix method. Meanwhile the blasting frequency and the main vibration mode of the roller holder will be calculated. A comparison and validation will be made by using finite element to prove the effectiveness of the mathematical mode. Based on this, the optimal design of the roller holder’s physical dimension and the parameter that coincides with the rate will be made. Moreover, in this paper the dynamic model of the bearing will be established a more flexible roller holder will be designed. Based on the ADAMS, the dynamic analysis of the bearing will also be made to provide the dynamic characteristic curve of the bearing. Finally, the paper will give a brief summary of the research and predict the future development of this field.The demonstration and analysis in this paper will prove in theory the practicability of the use of transfer matrix method in complicated dimensional structure model. Also the optimization analysis scheme of the holder of tapered roller bearing and the dynamical model that is established in this paper will provide the parameter for a series of bearings that are the same type but with different model number.
