TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) is the most advanced and extensive tunnel construction equipment at home and abroad currently. It is mainly composed of cutter head, main bearing, shove rams, pressure chamber, conveyor system, segment erector, gate, operation trailer, segment crane trolley, belt conveyor and other parts. Cutter head is one of the core components of TBM design and manufacturing.The current development of TBM and TBM technology is analyzed. Starting from the theory and method of flatness measurement for large-scale part, it is based on a large number of actual work experience and measurement data. Research flatness measurement principle, technical requirements, error analysis and evaluation of uncertainty in measurement for TBM cutter head etc.. According to the difficulty of flatness measurement job during the processing stage and the assembly process, selects the suitable instrument of flatness measurement. An effective flatness measurement methodology of cutter head is established. A more accurate program of flatness error analysis and calculation for cutter head is found. In the end of this paper, it establishes a mathematical model, which is systematically evaluated uncertainty in measurement of flatness error for TBM cutter head in some detail. A set of more complete flatness measurement methodology of TBM cutter head is developed finally.Through the research, flatness of TBM cutter head with water level is measured, and flatness error of this machine with least square method is evaluated. It reflects the whole stress distribution of the cutter head directly, evaluates the strength and stiffness from the objective angle of metrology. Flatness measurement will contribute to the improvement of cutter head process in machining and assembly immediately. It would ensure the driving speed and working life of TBM indirectly, and get the high quality of whole project. This project provides the technical which could support NHI establishing corporation standards. And it also lays a technical foundation to improve process requirements and product quality of domestic TBM.
