Now, with the rapid development of China’s national economy, national vehicle population is rapidly increasing, which has caused tremendous pressure for the urban transport and also has brought great challenges to the work of traffic operations, traffic dispatch, traffic supervision department. On the one hand the number of vehicle increase in road would increase the difficulty of monitor and manage, reduce the work efficiency; on the other hand, the number of vehicle increase in road would need the relevant departments to invest more human, material and financial resources for monitoring and management, greatly increase the management costs.Based on this, this paper carried out relevant research, survey results showed that integrated intelligent traffic management is an effective measure to solve the problem, and design and development a viable and efficient vehicle monitoring system is one of the key means of intelligent transportation.Therefore, this paper intends to design and implement a vehicle monitoring system, make the vehicle running status visible, controllable, improve the working efficiency and reduce the management costs.However, with the number of vehicles to monitor increasing, the existing vehicle monitoring system is not adequate to cope with such a huge amount of data, the system will appear some problems, such as apparent response time prolongation, significant performance degradation and other problems. Therefore, this article based on the existing vehicle monitoring system, combines with the Hadoop open source distributed platform, designs and initial implements a distributed vehicle monitoring system, reduces the response time, optimizes the use performance of the system and improve the user’s experience.Specifically, this paper made the work of the following three aspects:(1)Analysis the demand of the vehicle monitoring system in detail, describe the overall design of the vehicle monitoring system, including architecture design, requirement analysis, technology selection.(2)Combines with GPS, GIS, Web Service, Ajax and other technologies, based on the J2EE platform, Java language, to realizes the vehicle dynamic data’s processing and analyzing, achieves the functions, such as:data batch import, real-time monitoring, historical track playback, traffic statistics query, etc. And then test on these functions.(3)Because of the original vehicle monitoring system’s response time is too long under the large amount of data, this paper combines with Hadoop open source distributed platform, improves the original system, designs and initial implements a distributed vehicle monitoring system, reduces the response time, optimizes the use performance of the system and improve the user’s experience. Finally, this paper deploys the vehicle monitoring system in the built Hadoop cluster. Then, this research compared and analyzed differences of the system’s response time between the original system and the distributed system, the results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the distributed vehicle monitoring system.
