Energy shortage is the problem most of the countries in the world, the problem ismore outstanding in our country, in recent years,China, with a low energy utilizationand high energy wastage rate, is now facing a serious energy crisis. As reported inStatistical Communique on the2010National Economy and Social Development,issued on March,2010, China’s GNP only accounted for37%of the US, while thestandard of coal consumption,3,250,000,000ton, is far higher than that of the US. Asdisclosed in statistics, the consumption on building energy takes around30%ofChina’s total energy consumption, among which the heat loss in building externalwall is of the main reason. In order to guarantee construction quality, minimizeenergy consumption and improve energy utilization, it is recommended and requestedto optimize the design of external wall insulation, select new energy-saving material,apply advanced insulation technique, enhance insulation quality control and reducethe heat loss.The thesis indicates the importance and necessity of building energy conservationthrough an analysis of reasons for the existing energy crisis. Combined with aconstruction case of practical application of extruded board in external wall insulationsystem for new campus of China Medical University, it analyzes the current status inexternal wall insulation and the problems in extruded board insulation system,clarifies the items to be noticed during construction and points out the existingproblems. From the aspects of structural design, material application and construction quality control, it finds the reasons for defects and problems found in wall insulationsuch as hollowing, stripping, surface cracking, frosting and dewing in winter and poorfire resistance, and further provides solutions, proposals and ways of implementationas follows. Firstly, it is to optimize the design plan from the original extruded boardinsulation system to extruded board Class B1plus fire barrier. The exterior finishingproposal would be modified from applying only split brick to using split brick withmainly lacquer paint. Secondly, it is to perform quality control by applying histogram,casual and investigation analysis which stresses on ‘4M1E’ five links. Thirdly, it is tostrengthen management of construction process by means of the Management,and tocarry out a comprehensive quality control on wall insulation in PDCA cycle modeand to collect the relative data of the quality problems in construction. The data isrealistic and representative. The data analysis is scientific and the conclusion isreliable. The combination of quality control with mathematical statistical techniques,and evaluation on effects of quality control could help make quality control moretargeted, scientific and operational, and verify the effect of quality control on projectquality. At the end of the thesis, the author gives a further study research direction andrecommendation.The quality control method stated in this thesis for external wall insulation couldbe used and applied as a guidance and reference for other partial or itemized projects.It is beneficial for the future construction of other construction companies.
