Three-Axis Flight Motion Simulator is the key equipment for simulating flight attitudes ofaircrafts on the ground, which could simulate rolling, yawing and pitching movement of aircrafts.The performance of Flight Motion Simulator would not only be related to the accuracy andreliability of simulation results but also affect the development of aircrafts such as missiles andplanes. Hence, to research and manufacture high-precision and high-performance aircrafts, thetechnical demand of Flight Motion Simulator has been improved.In this paper, we focused on the static and dynamic performances of Three-Axis FlightMotion Simulator. Static and dynamic analysis of three-dimensional model were made on finiteelement analysis software ANSYS Workbench(AWB). To make the Flight Motion Simulator withhigher accuracy and higher reliability, dynamic couplings of the Flight Motion Simulator has beendecoupled.The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the design of mechanical structure of flight motion simulator in this paper must satisfythe fundamental static and dynamic performances and characteristics. Structure form, drivingmode and assembling method of loads were selected. Meanwhile, materials and cross sections ofthe frames, bearings and motors were decided by consulting data and computing the mechanicalloads of flight motion simulator. The bears contain angular contact ball bearing, thrust ball bearing,deep groove ball bearing are purchased from SKF Ltd. The motors are permanent magnet DCtorque motor. Finally Kuebler5888multi-circle absolute type grating encoder and ADIS16355MEMS Inertial sensor are used as the test equipment of Three-Axis Flight Motion Simulator.Secondly,the finite element analysis(FEA) model of flight motion simulator has been built,and the static analysis of FEA model were taken while both inner andmiddle structure in differentpositions(the axis of both inner structure and middle structure in the horizontal plane, verticalplane and random position). Through the static analysis, the static analysis cloud pictures showthe deformations of all frames. From this, we get the point of main deformation.Moreover, to get the dynamic characteristic of flight motion simulator, modal analysis and harmonic response analysis of FEA model were taken. Besides the whole flight motion simulatormodel, the inner structure, middle structure and outer structure were simulated separately in modalanalysis progress, too. From modal analysis we got the one-six modal frequencies, one-six modalvibration and harmonic frequency of the Three-Axis Flight Motion Simulator.Finally, to get comfortable control mode, the mathematical model of the inner structure,middle structure and outer structure were established. What’s more, dynamic couplings betweeneach frame were decoupled by decouple theorem. The state equation of three-axis flight motionsimulator has been got and it has been proved to be absolutely decoupling.
