In the present society, greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2are increasingly causing the concern of people. Under the dual pressures of energy saving and oil prices rising, it has become a major issue that the shipping industry and inland shipping industry are facing, how to achieve emission reduction targets by using less fuel oil.As one of the effective ways of the ship energy saving control, slow steaming draws more and more attention to the shipping enterprises, so the selection of the best energy-saving speed is a key problem on energy-saving research.Using energy saving for the inland vessels as the object of study, dividing inland waterways according to the hydrological situation, the paper gets the best energy-saving sectional speed by optimizing calculation of all sectional speeds.This paper analyzes the impact of the external environment and navigation on inland vessels resistance, diesel engine characteristic and the matching relationship of ship, engine and propeller.This paper selects the325TEU container ship in Yangtze River as the target ship. Considering the relationship of ship, diesel engine and propeller, through the analysis of the diesel engine bench test data, marine main engine fuel consumption model is established. The research shows that the fuel consumption per hour of main engine increases with the increase of the speed. So, the slow steaming can play the effect of energy saving and emission reduction.Selecting shipping line from Shashi to Yichang as example, this paper transforms navigation path GPS latitude and longitude data into the plane right angle coordinate data by Gauss-Kruger projection. According to the value of the bending radius that is obtained by piecewise fitting, the entire voyage waterway is divided. Finally, the total fuel consumption model in the entire voyage is established by analyzing the relationship between the fuel consumption and the sectional speed.According to the total fuel consumption model in the entire voyage, this paper establishes the optimization function to the minimum fuel consumption in the entire voyage and get the best energy-saving sectional speed by genetic algorithm. By comparing the fuel consumption of the four navigational strategies, the results show that optimization of sectional speed is the effective way of the ship energy saving control.
