Coal fired power plant construction projects existed a lot of waste phenomenon which resulted the entity cost increased and the profit shrunk. The core of lean thinking is value creativity and waste elimination. The purpose of applying lean thinking into construction is to divert the non-valuable event from work flow to increase the project value as a result that the profit maximization and waste minimization. At meantime, put customer first and try utmost to satisfy client requirement. Therefore, it had practical meaning to study the application of lean thinking into construction management.Thesis tried to combine lean thinking concept and coal fired power plant construction management. It deeply analyzes the value flow of power plant project and finds out reasons resulted into typical waste phenomenon in contrary with lean thinking from value flow. In order to eliminate these waste phenomenon which rose up the total cost, the thesis attempts to reform company management system under the guidance of lean thinking, remodel a flat organizational structure, establish information exchange platform and with the help of lean site management, progressively build site safety and civilized construction management system. Implement different kinds of lean method such as soft construction system, construction equalization, model and parallel construction, Kanban management, JIT procurement and construction into practice. Through continuous improvement, it infinitely closed to eliminate the waste in project construction. Earned value management method will be applied also to pursuit the aim of shorten schedule and cost control assurance. The thesis has analyzed a large coal fired power plant project which utilized lean into construction management.
