In China, Passenger-Dedicated Line is going on with a leap-forward development now. The high running speed of train and the requirement of great smoothness of Passenger-Dedicated Line itself decide that the settlement of line structures must be controlled in a permissible range. So engineers must do settlement observation for line structures of Passenger-Dedicated Line during the construction and make settlement prediction and evaluate it in order to determine the right track-laying time.Based on the project, Settlement and Deform Observation of Line Structures on the Fourth Segment of the Bid IV of Chengdu-Chongqing Passenger-Dedicated Line, the author of the paper developed a scientific and detailed settlement observation program according to engineering situations and did a series of settlement observation on line structures. The author adopted conventional forecasting methods and used ABAQUS software to make settlement prediction on typical sections and found a proper method to make settlement prediction on the Chengdu-Chongqing Passenger Dedicated Line by comparing the predicted data with the measured one. The main achievements of this paper are as follows:1. Made a detailed description and analysis on the observation program for settlement mechanism and deform on Passenger Dedicated Line.2. Formulated a Settlement deform observation program for Fourth Segment of the Bid Ⅳ of Chengdu-Chongqing Passenger-Dedicated Line according to relevant specifications and technical requirements and arranged the net of settlement deform observation.3. Carried out line structures settlement observation according to formulated programs and got settlement curves which changes with time by logically analyzing the collected field data.4. Used prediction method such as Gray System Theory Model, hyperbola method and Hoshino Method to predict the settlement and deformation of the tunnel and found a suitable model for this tunnel by comparing the result with the observed data. Then used the model to forecast the post-construction settlement and reasonable track-laying time for this tunnel and discussed on the applicable conditions for those models.5. By using the parallel computer of Southwest Jiaotong University, used ABAQUS simulation software to make a simulated prediction for the settlement of piers built in soft foundation and predicted the post-construction settlement and reasonable track-laying time by comparing the predicted data with the measured one to test feasibility of the model.
