With fossil energy exhausted and development of nuclear energy limited, energy problem becomes a severe challenge that cannot be avoided for all human beings. Photovoltaic is a main component in use of solar energy. How to improve efficiency of solar energy conversion is a core content. The use of Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) provides a solid foundation for the optimization and utilization of photovoltaic power generation systems.In the paper, detailed work plans around MPPT are carried out. Based on two basic points and one core, the design of photovoltaic power generation system regarding MPPT as the core is completed, which solves the problem well that efficiency of solar energy conversion is low.Firstly, the conventional structure of photovoltaic power system is introduced generally. Secondly, DC/DC converter circuits (the implementation of the MPPT controller) with CCM is stated. Buck and booster circuits are analyzed using two different methods. Boost DC/DC converter is simpler and more practical, which is able to operate in CCM and remains the same. Thirdly, on the basis of the first two chapters, the implementation principle and control process of traditional MPPT arithmetic is specified. In addition, the simulation results of variable step size P&O show that the tracking algorithm works well when radiation intensity is changed, however, the effect of detecting is poor. What’s more, a artificial intelligence control technique-Fuzzy logic control algorithm is put up aimed at that traditional methods cannot respond the changes of environment with serious oscillation. The system design includes the determination of fuzzy control rules and setting of editor parameters, which is based on the system analysis.Finally, the whole simulation model is set up, and related parameters are set. The simulation verifies validity and feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
