Electric power steering system (EPS) as early as1988Japan Suzuki company Eervocar equipment, then the world’s major companies have started to develop its own EPS, suchas Delphi, TRW, ZF, JTEKT, NSK, SHOWA, MANDO, MOBIS etc.With the developmentof automotive electronic technology, Electric power steering system with respect to thehydraulic power steering system technical superiority is obvious, has the advantage ofenergy saving and environmental protection, convenient arrangement, good road feeling, theintegrated chassis control etc.Passenger car perfect steering characteristics is low-speed flexible, high-speed stability,road feeling is clear. Although the traditional hydraulic steering system depends on the flowcontrol of steering pump can achieve steering characteristic with speed, but low-speedflexible and high-speed stability aren’t considered simultaneously, and the electric powersteering system is based on the vehicle speed signal and the steering wheel torque signal,according control the ECU’s output current, making the motor provide the steering assisttorque. The output torque of the motor is zoomed in by reducing mechanism,the utility isspeed reduction and torque increase (worm shaft and worm wheel, belt, circulating ballreducer etc), to provide the driver steering assist torque.Matching research has important influence on the performance of the EPS system, goodmatching performance can not only make the driver experience to good driving performance,but also improve the passive safety performance of the vehicle, reducing the possibility ofthe traffic accident, and ensure the safety of the driver. This paper mainly analyses anddiscussions of the study of matching EPS, the structure and working principle of the EPSsystem, classification, the advantages of EPS system, domestic and foreign research presentsituations for EPS system.The paper’ research goal, significance and the research content aregeneral introduced. Mainly introduces the key technology and the matching of EPS system, and the matching design content assist motor, reducer and vehicle are studied; through theUnited Simulation Platform between Carsim software and Simulink software, the EPSsystem assist torque characteristic, compensation control, active return to center control areanalyzed, and the simulation analysis is also carried out on the matching of the vehicle;Based on the vehicle test results about EPS system, the correlation between the objective testresults and subjective evaluation is studied; According to the previous developmentexperience, the reliability test items of EPS system are studied; summarizes the paper’s mainresearch contents and achievements, and puts forward the shortcomings of this paper andfuture expansion work.
