Since the first industrial revolution, the advancement in structure technology released thearchitecture skin from the bearing system and made it more free. Because of the influence ofmodern architecture, at this time, the building skin became reasonable and simple; with thedevelopment of postmodernism architecture theory, the building skin started to be consideredas an independent part of architecture. Now the building skin has acted a more important part.The construction industry in our country develops fast in recent years, and the overallenvironment in china is like a huge construction site. Behind this extensive developmentpattern, we should recognize that the development of building skin must focus on its ownstructure logic and the real performance of material but not on”the skin of the surface”. Basedon this principle, the author analyzed the construction details and performance of the buildingskin, and the core content is divided into the following several aspects:First of all, the author concluded the development progress and the feature at differenttimes, then summarized three attributes of it. Through introducing tectonic,the importance oflogical structure and real performance of material were realized,and the building skin weredivided into three parts: structure, constitution and material.Material and technology of building skin were analyzed by giving examples andgraphical representation method. On the material side, the author argued how to use materialto express and emphasized the crucial of material’s reality via three basic visual characteristics:shape, color, mass. Low technology skin and high technology skin were classified by itscomplex, the author thought that low technology part can still take a place in today and variouskind of creativity technology can drive its improvement. Above all, the author concluded thatproper, logical, high efficient technology should be selected through specific condition.By analyzing material and technology, the author drew a conclusion about developmentpriorities of building skin. Finally, the author gave inductive reflection to the above research,and considered that material and technology penetrate the whole process of building skindesignation and have profound impact on its expression and construction. With time goes on,this topic research also need to constantly update.
