Research On The Morphological Design And Performance Of The Brick Skin In Modern Building

Brick is one of the oldest building materials and is spread up to now with traditional materials such as stone and wood.With the development and progress of society,the new building materials and construction technology emerge in an endless stream,the brick,stone,wood and some traditional building materials in the application of modern architecture has also undergone enormous changes.With the emergence of the frame structure system,the brick is freed from the load-bearing structure and gradually become the building envelope structure in the form of building skin,but also the architects in the brick skin form of design and performance also has more and more free play space.Brick as an ancient traditional material,has been given a cultural,temporal,regional and other symbolic meaning,and as a symbol or sign,representing the traditional architectural culture.In the face of stereotyped modern buildings made of reinforced concrete and ice-cold glass,some sensible architects used brick as the architectural skin material,through innovative construction to carry out architectural design practice,seeking the return of traditional architectural culture and the regional development of architecture.This paper attempts to deeply study the morphological construction and morphological manifestation of brick skin in modern architecture,and explore its application and performance in innovation,diversity and function in modern architecture,and make some contribution to the development of modern building.Firstly,the brick material is introduced in detail from three aspects: the basic characteristics of the brick,the symbolic meaning and the application type.Then,on the basis of studying a large number of domestic and international building examples,the construction method of the brick skin form is discussed in detail from four aspects: the brick masonry type,the connection method of the brick skin,the composition of the brick skin form and the digital construction of the brick skin form to analyze the effect of masonry and composition on the form of brick.Finally,the paper summarizes the expression of brick skin form from three aspects: the formal performance,the functional performance and the structural performance.
