With the continuous development of modern communication technology,theelectromagnetic environment simulation plays an important role in modern military electronic warfare. The layout of the battlefield weapons and equipment can be optimized by the software prediction of the electromagnetic environment. This paper researched the key technologies to realize the simulation system of electromagnetic environment, and realized the simulation system. In addition, this paper presented some simulation acceleration techniquessince the ray tracing algorithm is time-consuming.Ray tracing algorithmbased on geometrical optics theory and UTDcan efficiently predict wave propagation. This paper selects the suburban environment as the application scene of the electromagnetic simulation. For the efficiency of the ray tracing algorithm and the feasibility of the prediction on the suburbs, the ray tracing forward algorithm is used as the theoretical basis of system implementation.Through the research on the existing ray tracing algorithm, this paper described the simulation model for the suburban environment in detail,studied the representation, division and the data processing method of3D terrain and discussed the ray tracing process of radiation source partition, ray and terrain intersection, effective path selection, parameter field value calculation, result merging and module realization process. The method of implementation of each module and its basic theory and technology is presented in this paper, and this is the preparation of the construction the electromagnetic environment simulation system. In this study, simulation acceleration methods are realized from the terrain meshing and parallel computing aspects. These methods can reduce the simulation time effectively while guarantee the accuracy. Simulation of a large number of experimental data proved the feasibility of the acceleration algorithm.The software is a distributed system based on C/S architecture and a common platform for parallel control is presented.The number of child nodes can be increased according to user’s needs, the system is easy to maintain and extend. In addition, the system established terrain, waveform, radiation source equipment model library, which greatly simplifies the user’s modeling process.Currently, domestic software based on ray tracing algorithm for electromagnetic simulation is not that much, this paper aimedatestablishing a simulation model of electromagnetic environment,researched the key theory and evaluation technology of the system, and thus provided the reference for the electromagnetic environment of more accurate and efficient software development in the future.
