The brick masonry structures is widely used in the buildings of our country. Due to it’s low strength material, poor structural integrity and the disadvantage affect of construction and material slection, it’s capability of seismic resistance is poor. This paper analyzed some commonly used reinforcement method of masonry structures and pointed out some suggestions. In the application of the cable-stayed steel reinforcement of the brick masonry wall, aseismatic behavior of the strengthened wall was experimented by lower cycle reversal loads. The test result indicated that the brick masonry wall’s seismic capacity was improved. And this reinforcement method of the brick masonry wall is more economic than commonly used steel bar-mat reinforcement method.Adopt the finite element software ANSYS and carry out the nonlinear finite element analysised the no-strengthened wall and the cable-stayed steel reinforced wall under the lower cycle reversal loads. The results is similar with the experimental results. By using the HILL model and controlling element’s life, the analysis results are more ture and accurate.
