The wenchuan earthquake and yushu earthquake attract the attention of peoplebecause they cause a great damage for people’s lives and property. In order to reducethe damage of earthquake effectively and improve the seismic performance ofbuildings, we learn the stairs suffered serious destruction in the earthquake afteranalyzing the damage of structure, especially in the frame structure. It shows theoriginal method which does not consider the overall effect of staircase to structuredoes not meet the demand of normal using in the earthquake, and this is not conformto the actual working situation. So in the future design, we should take the influenceof stairs on the structure into consideration, and make the stair can provide asafe vertical channel when earthquake struck.For a clear understanding for the seismic influence of stairs on the framestructure and the interaction between the stairs and the frame structure, thispaper adopts the frame structure which was serious damaged in the earthquake as anexample in some certain areas, to analyze the internal forces of two patterns ofstructure with stairs and without stairs using the SAP2000and PKPM, and itresearches the period, vibration mode, floors displacement, the underlying force andinternal force of beams and columns in frame structure, and the internal force of thecomponents in staircase with current calculation method and the SAP2000software.At the same time, compared with the calculation results of the SAP2000and PKPM todiscuss the feasibility of PKPM. we make some proposals of relevant seismic designfor the future design of the stairs after considering the influence of stair.
