Steel tube truss structure is gradually becoming a favor of worldwide constructionand structural engineers with its exquisite appearance, proper structural mechanicalcharacteristics and good economy. When earthquake happens, the key parts of trussstructure absorb a large amount of energy, bringing the structure into elastic-plasticbehavior so that it starts yielding and even destroying. And that results in thestructure’s unrecoverable destruction or even direct collapse. Dampers are commoncomponents dissipating energy that earthquakes produce. Arranging them in theproper position of the structure can largely decrease the energy of import structureduring earthquakes, so that the functions of structural seismic resistance can be greatlyimproved. This article studies the energy dissipation of added viscous dampers’ largecantilever truss structure.At first,the article gives a description of structure control theory, the developmentstatus of dampers at home and abroad, and SAP2000. Then it makes a furtherintroduction to the relevant theory of viscous dampers. Finally, it chooses the fastnonlinear analysis method as the analysis method. The article chooses some station’struss structure model of large cantilevered roof of large span to be the research subject,adopting SAP2000developed by American CSI company to build analysis model, andanalyzing its inherent quality under non-control state.Next, importing3groups ofdifferent earthquake waves, giving seismic performance analysis to the truss structureof viscous dampers by fast nonlinear analysis method. After a reference to thevibration reduction document from home and abroad together with researches andtrials, the layout and number of dampers are finally determined, with a result ofexcellent damping effect. Based on this,changing certain damper parameters thathave an influence on energy dissipation effects and then making a contrast betweenthem to choose the best. We can finally find out that the functions of large cantilevertruss structure which sets up viscous dampers are especially superior, as well as aconvenience for future’s deeper research.
