Engineering structural vibration control has been a hot topic in the engineering seismictechnology, energy dissipation technology is more and more used in large span cantileveredspace structure. Grid mesh shell structure with its diverse elegant architectural styling, goodstructure force characteristics increasingly the countries building structural engineer favorof, and has been more widely used in the field of public buildings, industrial buildings. Thegrid structure when the earthquake occurred directly unable to repair the damage orstructural collapse, the majority was due to a large number of seismic energy which key rodabsorbed into the elastic-plastic state appears to yield and failure. The damper is commonlyused in the structure of the components of the seismic energy consumption. It attenuatessignificantly the seismic energy of input structure when it is reasonably arranged in thestructure, so as to achieve the purpose of improving the seismic performance. In this paper,the additional viscous dampers are chosen to study the energy dissipation of grid structures.This article first details the research process and the status quo of structure controltheory and dampers in and abroad. Then further elaborates the mechanical properties of theviscous material and viscous dampers, and compare the design methods of large cantileveredtruss structure damping system with viscous dampers.Finally, fast nonlinear analysis method(FNA law) is chozen as the analysis method.In this paper, a Convention Center with twoadjacent sides of a large cantilevered roof truss structure model are chozen as analysisobjects. First, we use the widely used finite element analysis software SAP2000to establishanalytical model, and conduct components optimization in the requirements of meeting thespecification as to realize grid structure optimization, and analyze the model in the state ofno control. Fast Nonlinear Analysis (FNA method), followed by application to import threedifferent seismic waves, seismic performance analysis of the grid structure with viscous dampers,through the comparison of five different damper layout scheme,draw a seismic energy dissipation effectoptimal layout scheme. On this basis, compare the several damper parameters which affect theseismic energy dissipation effect to choose the best. The final conclusions about theeffectiveness of viscous dampers which set in a large cantilevered truss structure provideexperience and data for more in-depth research in the future.
