Automatic gearbox has begun to replace mechanical gearbox gradually depending ontheir superior drivability and operability, which has been widely used in medium andhigh-grade cars. It is essential for studying the assembly technologyin the independentresearches on automatic gearbox.An important issue in the assembly process ofautomatic transmission is how to control the gap between the brakes and clutch, whichis adjusted by the thickness of flange gasket. The traditional method of selecting flangegasket is to measure the gap manually, which is inefficient and low accuracy. In thisstudy, the brake-shim measuring machineis developed as a key measurement device forautomatic transmission assembly line.In this study, firstly, it demonstrated the significance and development background ofmeasurement techniques of shift brake shims in automatic transmission. In addition, itpresents the domestic and oversea assembly technology of automatic gearbox, and thedevelopment status of gap measuring techniques.Then, measuring object, necessity and feasibility could be confirmed throughanalyzing the product structure, the shifting principle of automatic transmission, thefeature of basic structure, the assembly process, and the structure of key brakes forexecutive component of shifting in automatic transmission. was analyzed. On this basisand combining the basic principle of dimension chain, assembly dimension chain for theshifting executive component’s brakes would be established. Itprovided a theoreticalbasis for designing measuring system.Finally, the measuring principle and design idea of measuring machine was describedin detail on the basis of the established assembly dimension chain. The relativemeasurement principle would be used to determine the thickness of flange gasket,which only need measure value of workpiece and calibration object. This thesis focusedon the mechanical structure design of automatic transmission brake shims measuringmachine and analysis of measuring data. To measure the capability index Cg as anassessment indicator, the stability of the measurement system was verified bycalculating and analyzingthe measuring data. Furthermore, the accuracy of themeasurement was verified by rechecking the measurement system.
