Advanced Application Program Of Microscopic Traffic Simulation Software

VISSIM is a necessary tool in the area of traffic management and control. It is a widely used software in microscopic traffic simulation with effective tool for evaluating the traffic engineering design and Urban Planning Scheme. Generally speaking, VISSIM functions can meet the basic demands of users. However, standing on the point of experienced users, the function of VISSIM is still not perfect. For example, some functions are too cumbersome and complex to operate; some special requirement of users couldn’t be achieved therefore cannot be able to meet the diverse needs of users.In order to remedy the defect of VISSIM, through the COM interface of VISSIM, this paper use Visual Basic combined with ACCESS database and Excel to develop a plug-in software. The program takes the VISSIM basic function as the breakthrough point and the following several aspects to improve the capabilities of the program.Firstly, the program realizes modification of the traffic assignment for a number of static routes improving the software efficiency. Secondly, re-integrating the structure of public bus line module making the interface more user-friendly and more convenient to view and modify. Thirdly, adding special functions, for example, late bus sampling, to meet the diverse needs of customers, supplementing the software functions. Finally, realize the time interval control of signal timing scheme and statistical analysis of evaluated data, expanding and strengthening the software function.
