The center of gravity is one of important parameters of vehicle, related tothe vehicle’s safety, controllability and stability, the vehicle centroidmeasurement is particularly important. Currently, measurement methods of thevehicle centroid include swaying method, suspension method, zero method,weight feedback method and platform supporting reaction method, and so on.However, for multi-axial heavy vehicles with big mass, large size, measuremethods of centroid position are all of limitation and inapplicability. Therefore,this paper proposes using the tilting method to measure the centroid ofmulti-axial heavy vehicles, this measurement method need to use wheel loadmeasuring instrument to measure wheel load value by different tilting angles onthe tipping table. This paper studies technologies of the vehicle centroidmeasurement platform based on the tilting method.By choosing the wheel load measuring device to achieve measure thecentroid position of the vehicle on the tipping table, according to the test vehicleand the requirements of measurement accuracy, determine the overall plan andmeasurement procedures of the centroid measure system. According to themeasurement principle, the vehicle centroid formula has been deduced.The tipping table not only have enough strength, but also to minimize thedeformation and its own weigh, therefore use orthotropic plates structure todesign structure of the tipping table, and stiffness analysis of the tipping table byusing ANSYS software, analysis the deformation of the tilt platform underdifferent loading conditions to meet the design requirements.By comparing the configuration styles and driving methods, select oneconfiguration style is suitable for the drive force and stroke, select electriccylinder as drive device. By using MATLAB/Simulink, established the model andsimulation of single cylinder servo system and double cylinder servo system, select control method with high precision based on the simulation results,single-cylinder control choose fuzzy PID control method, double cylinder controlchoose relative coupling control.The software system of the vehicle centroid measurement system is writtenusing LabVIEW software, the software system includes login module, parameterssetting module, data acquisition module, control module and computation moduleetc. The software system can realize angle control for the tipping table andacquisition and display of wheel load measurement value, calculates the testvehicle centroid by the calculation module, the control and operation of thevehicle centroid measurement system becomes easy.
