In the21st century, the maritime strategy has been attached an importance and the national start to advance the development of the marine and island economy. In this context, the construction of power networks in island areas is considered as a significant step. However, due to the unique geographical conditions of island, the traditional grid technology cannot meet the requirements of the rapid development of the island grid. The emerging micro-grid technology combines distributed power control and modern information technology, and has received a lot of attention. Micro-grid has great advantages in terms of efficiency of new energy, reliable control and environmental protection. Island micro-grid integrates various forms of electricity generation, contributing to the complexity of its construction and control. Therefore the research on how to stabilize the microgrid system has important application value.This paper first analyzes and compares the existing control methods of micro-grid, and does a further research on hierarchical control to account for its strengths. The simulation results verify the validity of hierarchical control method. Because the control of microgrid highly dependent on communications network and real-time monitoring, this paper design a smart terminal to meet the requirements. The smart terminals with dual core integrates many functions like communication and data collect, and the FreeRTOS OS is ported to imply multitask scheduling. The communication module of smart terminal includes several kinds of communication interfaces, and realizes fast and reliable connection communication between the underlying unit and the MGCC by hardware and protocol. The operational status information collection and power quality measurement is implied by online monitoring module. Moreover, the smart terminal should also possess the function of automatic protection and control of power equipment. At last, the field tests show all the functions of smart terminal can meet control requirements of microgrid.
