With the rapid growth of China’s economy and the increasing electricity load, thepower quality requirements of users is increasing day by day, the importance ofreactive power optimization with compensation becomes more and more prominent.With the advancement of people living standards, mechanization and automation offactory equipments upgrading and more using of electricity load, resulting in controland regulation of reactive power is more difficult. The rational distribution andbalance of reactive power in electric power systems is prerequisite of improving thepower factor and reducing the power consumption of electric power system.It ismaterial basis to ensure voltage of electric power systems stability. Therefore, theregulation and control of reactive power is one of core works to ensure electric powersystems work stability. In recent years, increasing of the number of electricequipments in electric power systems, resulting in the goal of control and regulationof reactive power and system voltage is more and more stricter.For a series of power quality problems of wind power reactive shortage situationand voltage deviation in substation, on the basis of researching the importantrelationship between the reactive power compensation and power quality, by thepurpose of monitoring the performance of dynamic reactive power compensation, thispaper proposed and developed a reactive power compensation monitoring systembased on virtual instrument technology. System structure order signal conditioningelectronic circuits as hardware-based, USB data acquisition module as transmissiontools, LabVIEW software as development tools, evaluation to reactive powercompensation device as purpose. Use the grid three-phase voltage and current signals as inputs after High-to-Low voltage conversion unit, signal conditioning unit, dataacquisition unit and computer processing unit, establishing the monitoring system ofreactive power compensation.This paper analyzes component models to achieve virtual instruments networkfunction and researchs the network transmission virtual instrument development toolsLabVIEW and MyEclipse. According to system monitoring requirements, designsrelated software handler and proposes implementation about network transmissionfunction. Reactive power compensation monitoring system has image display, datareading, state judgement, data storage, data playback and so on. The System canmonitor compensation time, compensation capacity and a series of performanceparameters of reactive power compensation device, achieving a systematic on-linemonitoring for the function of reactive power compensation device. It can usenetwork data transmission to achieve functions of remote monitoring and controlling.
