With the development of science and technology, the number of cars is increasingevery day, and driving is being simpler and more intelligent. The traditional car safetytechnology includes seat belt, air bag and so on. But the function of these equipmentsis reducing the damage from accident, they cannot reduce the possible of accidents’happening. These years, Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks(VANETs) being a new mobilead-hoc networks has been used on the road to realize high-speed, stable, safety datatransmission between vehicle and vehicle as well as vehicle and infrastructure by theroadside, it has changed people’s feeling about driving. By VANETs the vehicle canshare the road information provided by the sensors (such as direction, speed and theroad state.) to the neighbor vehicles, the driver can get the information they can get bythe eyes. So it will improve the convenience of driving and reduce the happening ofthe accident. At the same time, Auto Driving is beginning to take shape, installedRadar and camera on the car can provide many information for the driver by feelingthe scene, even they can control some function of car to make driving convenientThis paper is based on VANETs to make a true simulation platform for themicro-cars, and realize some algorithms on the ARM9embedded development boardto simulate something happened in the actual scene, the main research is as follows:(1) Design three communication algorithms between the micro-cars on VANETs.When there are some cars on the crossroads, they can pass it by the communicationresult they get. And when driving on the expressway, the car can make auto-followingor auto-overtaking driving by making a communication with the car in front of it(2)Install CMOS camera on the micro-car, combining the Opencv technology,analyzing the picture about the road in front that getting from the camera, try to knowthe information such as the slope of road line, curvature, Vanishing height and so on.Using these information to design a auto-following with the road line algorithms, andsimulate the automatic driving by the algorithms.(3)Install Radar on the micro-car, using it to get the information in front. Try to know if there are some obstacles on the running way by the algorithms designed, ifthere are, we can know the size of the obstacle, the distance to my car, and the vectorspeed it has,(4)Design a Fleet Management System to manage the micro-car in the scene, andget the information like state, speed in time.
