Process I/O modules are the most fundamental and widely used components in a control system of the nuclear power plant. The reliability and safety of control systems of the nuclear power plant depends on the reliability and security of these components. In this paper, we combined the the theory of reliability analysis and safety assessment engineering with the product which is designed and produced by the company. By using the methods of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis(FMEA), Reliability Block Diagram(RBD) and Fault Tree Analysis(FTA), we analysed the reliability of an analog output module AO111 and respectively, assessed its Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) under low demand mode and high demand mode.
