With the improvement of people’s quality of life and increasing energy demand, more and more people begin to use a heat pump to provide domestic hot water. Air-source heat pump hot water system with energy-saving, environmental protection and safe and quickly occupied the market, is widely used in different places in China. As an example of the bathroom water heating system, air source heat pump hot water system types are introduced in detail, how it works, design of heat pump hot water system, and so on. Continuous tracking running the data of air source heat pump hot water unit for two years, author knows operating characteristics of heat pump hot water unit. It is clearly showed that hot water demand and hot water costs is lowest in summer, highest in winter and lowest in summer, heat pump hot water unit power consumption as well as hot water consumption to increase with decrease in ambient temperature, air source heat pump heating most seriously affected by winter outdoor temperatures. Compared with hot water running cost of other hot water systems, air source heat pump water heater is area worthy of promotion in Chengdu, because it is economic and energy-savings. According to statistical data, it analyses that air-source heat pump hot water unit operation efficiency is mainly affected by outdoor temperature, and it is different in the same season of different year. Based on this, it is come up with assess of the energy efficiency of heat pump hot water unit base on typical meteorological year weather data. The thesis presented the concept and formula of annual performance factor(APF) of heat pump unit. Based on frequency method divides the year-round environment is high temperature area, medium temperature and low temperature area, and simplified the formula of calculation of APF in order to the convenience of calculation. Calculated based on a typical meteorological year data, the energy consumption efficiency of heat pump hot water unit for APF= 4.08. Bathroom water heater operation with an average efficiency of 3.73 APF= 4.08 compared with close to rated energy efficiency ratio and the COP=4.5 are different. And compare the same in different areas of operation of heat pump hot water unit, annual performance factor in hot summer and warm winter zone than in hot summer and cold winter area.
