Currently, the combination of physical model test and numerical simulation is playing an important role in engineering construction. Based on the Chaohu Zhaohe Dongdawei Flood-diversion sluice, the Fluent software and physical model test were used to analyse the hydraulic characteristics of the sluice.In the numerical calculation,using CAD and Gambit building the whole sluices modeland section model and then import to the Fluent software. The calculation adopts unstructured grid and implicit algorithm and use the standard k-ε turbulence model to close Reynods equations.The VOF method is adopted to track the free surface.The numerical computation is mainly divided into three parts:the first job is to calculate the discharge of the sluice when it is working under the most unfavorable conditions.Also,the relationship of the gate opening and discharge under 6 kinds of working conditions should be derived in this step. Secondly,we should simulate the pattern of the flow and then optimize the energy dissipater by analyzing and comparing the difference of the pattern of the flow.Finally, we should simulate the pattern of the flow in different openning ways of the gate,and then determine the best way of sluice gate opening or closing by observing the pattern of the flow.At the same time, we Also conducted a physical model tests in order to verify the feasibility of the numerical simulation.By compairing the result of physical model test and numerical simulation,we can draw four conclusions:1. the discharge capacity of sluice in the most unfavorable conditions can meet the design requirements;2. Choosing the fourth scheme as the better one by Comparing the Effect of energy dissipation.3. The best sequence of gate opening:1#,6# â†'3#,4#â†'2# 5#,and the best sequence of gate closing is in the opposite order.4.the results of the numerical simulation and physical model test is in good agreement, that is to say, it is feasible to use the numerical simulation discharging the structure problem.
