Study On Application Of Manhole Cover In The Green Park Space Of Changsha City

The manhole covers as details in the modern city, can be found everywhere in the Park green space, also play a role in showing the charm of a city and spreading the urban civilization. However, manhole covers as a public environment facilities has been neglected for years, and its image is almost the same in each city all over the Country, for a long time, manhole cover with a black "patch" appeared in the urban landscape green space, just like a city beautiful scenery line with a discordant note, which is incompatible with the modern city. The design and application of the manhole cover didn’t get better development.This paper studied the Park green space in Changsha City mainly through the methods of literature consulting, field survey, questionnaire survey, statistical analysis and theoretical research. Then put forward three basic functions which the manhole cover design should meet:safety protection, convenient maintenance, identification function, at the same time three sub functions of the manhole covers should be taking into account as far as possible:expression of regional culture, the guidance, the expression of art. Through the analysis and summary, put forward the principle of the manhole cover design should follow, the safety principle, the environmental protection principle, the unique principle, the formal beauty principle. The survey on manhole covers in the 8 Park green space of Changsha show that, there are 5 types of manhole cover in these Park green space. The drainage manhole covers make the biggest proportion, fllowed by electricity manhole covers. The Park built in the longer, the no logo manhole cover more. The Park green area is smaller, less the manhole cover type. In different types of manhole cover, the square manhole cover accounted for 76.84% and the round manhole cover accounted for 23.16% from all the manhole covers. From the point of view of the material of the manhole covers, metal manhole covers accounted for 68.23%. The questionnaire survey on application status of manhole covers of Changsha show that, 38.48% of the people walk around the manhole cover.70.09% of the people think that the manhole covers they have see without cultural connotation.91.45% of the people have seen no guidance sign of manhole cover.63.25% of the people have never seen a graffiti art pattern manhole covers in Changsha. But the applications of manhole covers are gradually getting people’s attention. Six major problems existed in present application of the manhole covers of Changsha, such as the function is not complete, design is not perfect, management is not in place, lack of new material of manhole cover, loss of personality and characteristics, and the effect of landscape is poor. Three measures to solve the problem are:strengthen the safety design of manhole cover, strengthen the security management of the manhole cover, endow the manhole cover with cultural connotation.Finally, according to the theory of manhole cover design, taking the application of manhole covers of Changsha Orange Island Park as the actual case. Then making a reconstruction design of the manhole covers of the Orange Island of Changsha based on the investigation and analysis.
