Multi-axle vehicles are widely used in civil and defense field. The quality of vehicle and the parts directly affects vehicle’s fatigue performance and reliability. Development and research about comprehensive performance test bench is profound because of the little studies on multi-axle vehicle. A method of a composite test bench is proposed to achieve a lot of vehicle and parts test with flexible testing technology, based on the characteristics of the multi-axle test bench.At first, the research of test bench and flexible testing technology develop rapidly in the whole world. Combined with the various customer requirements, the modularization of hardware, the parameterization of software is adopted to construct a kind of test bench, which can build up different layout, and be compatible with the unknown tests in future.The key questions about load spectrum, network and monitoring system is researched on, with the distributed and modular flexible design method. The method that load spectrum divided as several sections and integrated with cycle-index is applied in the paper. In order to solve the real-time and synchronous problems, it introduced a kind of network system constructed by ProfiNET and Profibus-DP. The communication with field equipments is established with OPC technology to realize data acquisition and status monitoring. To handle with the alarms in time, the grading methods of alarm information and limits of authority is elaborated.According to the various customer requirements of multi-axle vehicle test bench, a software system is programmed to verify the feasibility of that flexible testing technology applied in multi-axle vehicle test bench, and gets many innovational and convenient functions.
