With continuous growth of the aged population in our country, the problems associated with the aged have gradually become a hot issue. Due to the declines in cognitive ability and memory deterioration, the old often cannot correctly take the medicine according to the doctor’s orders, and they often have problems distinguishing different drugs. So it’s a frequently occurred phenomenon that the old take the wrong medicine. Similarly, the blind people also have difficulty with distinguish drug medicine. At present, there is a lack of medication reminder system that was designed for the aged and the blind, and the already existing systems have the disadvantages of singleness function, complication operation, and limitation of use-place. Therefore, in this dissertation, medication reminder system based on RFID and Bluetooth technology for the aged and the blind was designed.First of all, the overall framework of medication reminder system was designed. The data that come from RFID reader and Bluetooth was encapsulated and transformed via STM32 single chip. In order to keep low power consumption and high efficiency, no operating system was used on STM32. Through development of the underlying system program that running on STM32. the information was transmitted between RFID modules and Bluetooth modules.Secondly, according to the application requirements, hospital prescription server, mobile medical information database and voice reminding module were designed. The system was suitable for special groups such as the aged and blind people and so on. The system used B/S mode and through the wireless communication function of mobile phone to collect the prescription information from hospital prescription server. In order to help the patients to get reminder information humanized, voice reminder module was designed, which can remind patients through voice.Finally, the function modules of the system were tested and integrated. It contained the test of the data accuracy which portable terminal obtained from the drug RFID tags, the data of transmission information, the data correctness on mobile phone and the accuracy of voice reminder. After integration, the integration test was done to verify the availability and reliability of the system.The medication reminder system proposed in this dissertation was designed for special people such as the aged and blind people. New system has the characteristics of easy to carry, easy operation and no location restriction. It changes the traditional way of adjuvant drug, and will improving the existing electronic auxiliary treatment equipment of single function and complex operation. Test results show that the system has the characteristics of high reliability, good stability and practical value. After further perfection, it can be applied to special groups such as the aged and the blind and so on.
