Because of the features reusable, no contact and adaptability to adverse environment, radio frequency identification(RFID) technology has been widely used in supply chain, logistics, warehousing and other fields. Manufacturing process of elevator is a dynamic system, which the information is complexity, uncertainty, real time, integration etc. It is worth to study how to apply RFID into the elevator manufacturing process effectively. This paper has put forward a traceability system of elevator manufacturing process based on RFID, and its key technology and its application are studied.First of all, combining the features and application requirements of the manufacturing industry, a traceability system of elevator manufacturing process based on RFID was designed, which includes the overall architecture design, information flow analysis and the function module, and all of them are discussed in detail.Secondly, in order to collect the base data of elevator manufacturing process timely and effectively, three aspects has been researched. The main contents of the researches are as follows:(1) An anti-metal tag with a small size, low cost and excellent performance is designed by using high frequency structure simulator(HFSS), which turns out to be effective when applied in elevator manufacturing workshop.(2) A method of how to control the reading area is put forward through researched the main factors of affecting the RFID read area, the results show that it can avoid misreading phenomenon effectively when a tag is in the adjacent station or exceeds the boundary but in the readable range.(3) A scheme of rapid deployment of RFID read system is put forward through the establishment of the input-output model, and find the optimal parameters with the method of experimental design, and laboratory tests were conducted to verify the RFID reading system. The practical application shows that the plan has a guiding significance for the rapid deployment of RFID system.Finally, the research results have been applied in X company’s escalator truss production line, the actual result indicates that the implementation of the system can well meet the requirements of enterprise, which played a positive role for the application of RFID technology in the elevator manufacturing process.
