With the development of technology and market competition, automobile manufacturing industry is not going after the scale effectmerely but needs information management so much more.So the products are required to be traceable in automobile spare parts manufacturing process. In order to gather information, products are associated with barcode labels pasted on them in the old system. In manufacturing system control layer (PLC) identifies the products by reading barcodes and communicates with management layer (MES) via OPC-COM/DCOM technology, through which the syetem implements production management and information backward. However, because of the defects of barcode labels, information acquisition can’t achieve the request of high-efficient and accurate data collection. At the same time, OPC-COM/DCOM, own lacking of cross-platform ability and being difficult with the Internet application integration, makes the communication of process control layer (PLC) and manufacturing management layer (MES) inefficient.The purpose of this thesis is to improve the efficiency of data acquisition and data transmission of existing automobile parts manufacturing system.The new system includes several innovations:with RFID tag’s foundation of data storage and wireless identification, RFID system makes up the lack of bar code and achieves efficient data acquisition. Meanwhile with XML technology, it’s convenient to transfer data between PLC and MES, which makes up the lack of OPC and improves the efficiency of data transmission.Firstly, this thesis introduces the current development of automobile manufacturing industry and analyzes the lack of the existing automobile spare parts manufacturing system.Based on that, this thesis provides a designing proposal to improve the existing system by using RFID and XML technology. Then the thesis provides a brief introduction to these technologies involved.Specifically it has introduced RFID’s conception, principle, applications and the contrast of RFID and others automatic identification technology. The conception of XML and XML document structure are also included.Then taking pump manufacturing system as an example, this thesis has detailed the design of overall structure, hardware parameters and technology requirements. The implementation method is elaborated including the communication between PLC and RFID system, XML message generation and the realization of XML message communication between PLC and MES.Finally through the acceptance test, the new system achieves the expected goals in safety, function and efficiency. Based on the results, thesis has summarized the design.
