Acceptance capacity of wind power is constrained by many factors, like the system peak load regulation capacity, static security and system stability. Research on assessment methods of wind power integration capacity considering a variety of constraints, can not only ensure power system security and stability, but also reduce wind curtailment and promote rational development of wind power in a region. On the basis of summarizing the constraints of wind power integration capacity, assessment methods of the regional grid’s ability to integrate wind power are researched.The main research work in this thesis is as follows:(1) Basic research related to the subject is studied. The steady-state and transient models of wind farms are given. According to the main impacts of wind power on power grid, the main factors limiting the acceptance capacity of wind power is summarized.(2) The assessment method of wind power integration capacity considering peak load regulation constraint is research. Firstly, a region’s wind power output coefficient is determined through the analysis of wind power output characteristics. Secondly, based on the peaking constraints, the assessment method of wind power capacity is proposed for receiving end and sending end power grids, considering the tie-line power adjustment and unit maintenance. Finally, based on the analysis of the actual calculation conditions, wind power integration capacity of a real regional power grid is assessed.(3) A comprehensive assessment method of wind power integration capacity is proposed. Calculation methods of wind power capacity considering stability constraints are analyzed. Then, a comprehensive evaluation model is established. Considering wind resource capacity, peak shaving, static security, static voltage stability constraints, an assessment method of wind power integration capacity for a single wind farm is given. On this basis, an integrated indicator consists of three indexes of reactive power margin of the weakest node in voltage, power margin of lines to send wind power and wind resource capacity margin is proposed to select a priority to increase the capacity, and a wind power capacity assessment method is presented for two or more points of connections. Finally, the wind power integration capacity of a regional power grid in a province is evaluated and analyzed as a example to prove the validity of the proposed method.
