Frame is the most important part of a Body-chassis frame construction. The performance of a frame directly determined the performance of an automotive. Further more, the performance of a frame is determined by the static and dynamic characteristics of its structure. So researches on the static and dynamic characteristics can not only estimate the frame characteristics, but also estimate the characteristics of an automotive. The analysis result of a frame is the guidance for its structural optimization.By using FEM, and researches on Yunnan hongta Jin Qilin,Yu Qilin truck as examples, this paper presents the following research work on static and dynamic characteristics:With reasonable and suitable simplifications, a fine FEM model of the frame was established by using Hypermesh. The modal analyses of the frame were processed in ANSYS. Then the results of the modal's prior fifteen results were compared with the test results. This comparison verified the rationality of the FEM model. A series of static analysis, include bending, torsion, braking and swerve, were implemented on to the frame for simulation. The results of stress and deform presented the evidence of the weakness of the frame. Based on the former modal results, research of the dynamic response on the B road was followed by choosing the cab's installation place, the engine's rod and the carriage's support points as the output points. The frame's dynamic stress distribution and displacement were calculated. This research not only meaningful of its theoretical foundation of the optimization, but also its contribution for the future NVH studies.
