Regional power grid provided by the power quality, is related to the region’s industrial production, as well as public facilities, such as residential electricity safety and stability, voltage quality is an important index of electric power. And mainly through the reactive power compensation in the modern power grid voltage regulation, so a regional power grid reactive power compensation is able to reflect the degree of the power grid stability and strong. Reactive power compensation can not only in technology which can adjust the voltage quality, ensure the quality of electric energy, improve the qualified rate, also can reduce network loss power grid system in terms of economy, and usually the two are complementary to each other.As the capital of Inner Mongolia, Hohhot area power grid shoulder the party and government power, capital, industrial production and urban residents, agriculture and so on the important mission of electricity utilization, thus Hohhot in western Inner Mongolia regional power grid and north China power grid has a very important position. Due to the Hohhot area special geographical location and natural conditions, the advantages of the wind power has made greater development. New energy sources such as wind power station of mass connected to the electricity grid also gradually complicate the regional power grid, at the same time also greatly increased the difficulty of the reactive power compensation.In this paper, further analyzed about the present situation of Hohhot district power grid reactive power compensation after summarizing, reactive power compensation algorithm based on genetic algorithm is proposed. By using the genetic algorithm in dealing with the advantage of optimization problems and constraints, realized in regional power grid reactive power compensation optimization, finally through comparison and data processing, verify the algorithm in Hohhot district power grid optimization effect.
