Automobile industry has become increasingly significant in China’s machinery industry development. The engine is like the heart of automobile, while the piston can be known as the center of the engine. Therefore, the improvement of piston quality has become an important factor to promote the development of automotive industry. Aimed at the traditional manual measurement with low efficiency and big error, this paper designs automatic detection system of automobile piston. It aims at detecting processing parameters of pistons and realizing automatic detection of the piston, real-time display of measured parameters as well as processing, storage, intelligent sorting and laser marking of measurement data through the application of detection theory, the signal gathering technology, fuzzy neural network and virtual instrument technology. Moreover, it also assures the general application of different specifications.Firstly, introduce the main measurement parameters and accuracy requirements of automotive piston, and then conduct automatic detection of piston skirt outer circle, pin bore, ring groove, weight by utilizing comparative measurement principle and the detection theory. Furthermore select suitable detection tool for each measuring station.Secondly, model the system by applying fuzzy neural network, and then realize intelligent sorting of sorting station so as to ensure the accuracy of the piston separation.Finally, design the software and hardware of signal acquisition part. Among them, the hardware design mainly includes the structure, data acquisition and signal conditioning equipment so as to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the signal. The software based on virtual instrument technology, exploit a set of human-computer interaction interface with LabVIEW- the graphical programming language. The front panel includes piston parameters setting, the data acquisition interface of standard piston and the measured piston, display of measured parameters, data processing and separation result and so on. Utilize fusion technology both LabVIEW and MATLAB, to build fuzzy neural network modeling of sorting station so as to realize intelligent sorting piston.This paper designs automatic detection system of piston, realize automatic detection on the processing parameters of automobile piston and provide scientific reference for the development of automatic detecting technology of automobile piston with multi parameters.
