This study used driving while calling as research content. We manipulated the calls difficulty to explore the effects of different difficulty and call contents on driving performance through 3 preliminary experiments, 3 cognitive behavioral experiments and 3 driving simulator experiments based on Atchley, Dressel, Jones, Burson and Marshall’s(2011) experiment. We used 3 preliminary experiments to evaluate the difficulty of space words 1、space words 2、color words 1、color words 2 and the difficulty of space sentences and kinesthetic sentences. We used 3 cognitive behavioral experiments to verifiy Atchley, Dressel, Jones, Burson and Marshall’s(2011) experimental results、explore the impact of color words and space words 1 and space words 2 on visual and spatial tasks under the same terms of low difficulty and explore the impact of space words on visual and spatial tasks under the terms of different difficulty. We also used 3 driving simulator experiments to verify the results of cognitive behavioral experiments and explored the impact of space sentences and kinesthetic sentences on driving simulator indicators under the same terms of high difficulty. Our experimental results verify the assumption of the outcome conflict based on difficulty theory :( 1) the different difficulty of calls under the same contents would have different effects on driving behavior, the higher difficulty calls may generate greater impact on driving behavior;( 2) the different calls contents under the same difficulty will have different impacts on the driving behavior, when their overall difficulty are low, the impact of different call contents on driving behaviors are the same, when their overall difficulty are high, the impact of different call contents on driving behaviors are different, call contents which more similar to the driving behavior may generate greater impact on driving behavior.
