Nowadays, the predominant energy sources(coal, oil, natural gas) we use are non-renewable. With the accelerating development of electrical automation of contemporary society, the demand of energy is increasing nearly beyond limitation, so energy conservation is at the edge. As lighting accounts for a quarter of total energy reduction, lighting energy reduction has become a word-wide issue.This thesis is mainly on the discussion and research of in-door lighting sources. The following contents of this thesis are included:1. Introduce the development of light source – including fire, oil and electricity as well as the development of light – including torch, oil lamp, incandescent lamp, fluorescent lamp, colored decorative light and compact fluorescent lamp. And the introduction of various light sources is also included – incandescent lamp, fluorescent lamp, high pressure sodium lamp, as well as their performance and application feature respectively.2. Summarize the characteristics of LED light source which include light emitting principle, visible spectrum, and approach to white light. Meanwhile, summarize the light emitting intensity, luminance, brightness, the relative spectral energy(power) distribution, the peak emission wavelength, spectral half-wave width and the colorimetric parameters of LED.3. Analyzes the development classification and problems of LED which include cooling problem, unstable performance and high price. Analysis LED’s characteristics: small size, light in weight, long service life, low power consumption, fast response and high luminous efficiency. Analyze the requirements and choice of LED’s drive power. Analyze the present status and development trend of LED lighting.4. Build the model of LED in Tracepro and analyze the array distribution of common LEDs. Good illumination uniformity is achieved by simulation.5. Study the requirement of indoor lighting brightness, uniformity, light distribution curve. Design the in-door LED light according to the needs of indoors lighting, optimize in the light distribution and the uniformity of luminance, and obtain with a rectangular light effect of "bat wing light distribution" shape. Make contrast against fluorescent lamp as well as analyzes its advantages against traditional lighting devices.
