In recent years, the vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs) is the hot spot in the field of intelligent transportation system(ITS). VANETs is a kind of special mobile ad hoc networks(MANETs) without centerbetween vehicleswhich equipped bywireless network interface device. Because MANETs has the feathers such as no central node, self-organization,without the need for network infrastructure, network flexibility, easy deployment, etc, so that in this circumstance of absence of infrastructure and infrastructure suffered damage(such as earthquakes and other uncontrollable factors causes) case, it is still able to play its important role. Since the mobile network’s instability caused by the nodes’ fast-moving, as a kind of opportunity networks, Data Transmission in VANETs need to use the "carry forward and store" approach relying on the nodes’ moving. Therefore, how to transfer data between nodes has become to an important research topic in VANETs.In this thesis, we proposed a method called IPGS(Intelligent Parking Guidance Scheme) in VANETs environment to solve the problem that it’s difficult to find a parking place in urban vehicle parking area. There are two kinds of solutions(methods based on sensors or roadside infrastructure) with expensive spending on installation and maintenance, against to the defect, IPGS no longer needs any costs on installation and maintenance, it provides the guidance service by using the existing cars in parking area only. In IPGS, the parking map is generated by the parking cars in real-time, then the system provides the service to the car by analyzing the parking data. Specifically, the IPGS provides these services: counting the parking information in the parking lot, sending the requested data and providing the guidance service to the cars outside the parking lot. To achieve the above purpose, we design an efficient parking navigation system. In this system, we studied how to manage and analyze the parking data, how to generate the logic parking map, how to response to the data queries by outside cars, and how to guide the car to the right parking place in parking lot. Finally, we test and verify the IPGS’s effectiveness by NS2 simulation, and the results show that it can provide effective navigation for vehicle parking.
