With the continuous development of city scale and economic, the scope of lighting management is expanding, operating costs is increasing, the antinomy between power supply and demand be outstanding. Our automated lighting system based on loop control has been unable to meet the needs of the city.To solve this problem, you need to develop a intelligent lighting control system.The development stage of lighting technology lighting control is divided into three stages:automatic lighting control and intelligent lighting control. The paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of this three systems, focusing on the characteristics of intelligent lighting control systems.The intelligent lighting control system based on LonWorks and power line communication mainly adopts "three layer structure and two levels of communication" pattern.Three layers of structure include single lamp controller,SmartServer and control center. The single lamp controller is responsible for the lighting switch, dimmer, detection, power line carrier communication. SmartServer main function is to realize the data exchange between single lamp controller and control center.The main function of control center include data storage, remote monitoring, remote management, equipment maintenance, etc. Two levels of communication sections respectively are that single lamp controller and SmartServer will realize data transmission relying on the power line carrier communication technology,and that control center and SmartServer realize data exchange through the Ethernet or GPRS/CDMA Modem.The paper designs the system from the software and hardware. In the hardware, single lamp controller used with the chip as the core that has a power line communication function.The road controller selects SmartServer which communicate with single lamp controller in LonWorks network. In the software, wo design architecture and database of control center software according to user needs.The software development use C# language in VS2010.The software includes user management,real-time monitoring,alarm information,fault tracking,device management,power plan, power analysis, system logs etc. The system has practical application in the road.The results show that, this system has achieved the expected effect on the cost, management efficiency,communication performance and energy saving.
