Theref ore, urban waterfront landscape come to the fore in the urban landscape by its special form s of the landscape, and quickly become the most attracted recreational places in urban landscape. So city ecological landscape construction has been a prim ary task to the city landscape architects. Ecological natural waterfront landscape can not only meet the needs of people to the natural environment, but also im prove urban environment, and enhance the quality of image of the city. Therefore, it is necessary to study the landscape ecological theory, conclude the effective design practices, solve the existing problems of the urban waterfront environment with today’s advanced technology, create a harmonious coexistence of man and nature, nature and city urban ecological waterfront landscape.Through the analysis and research of dom estic waterfront landscape developm ent, summarize the domestic and foreign urban waterfront landscape theory and design concepts and techniques. Meanwhile, with the relevant concepts of waterfront landscape analysis, this paper based on landscape ecology, ecological rest oration, ecological aesthetics, discusses the elements of urban waterfront landscape, puts forward the im portance of the ecological integrity in landscape, creates a living lands cape, shows the three design principles of natural beauty in landscape, and concludes the four design methods —ecological, timeliness, exposed and functional.This paper takes Tower Park waterfront landscape design in kaifeng as an example and applys the design principles and methods in the practical case. On the premise of ecological waterfront landscape, this program analyses the properties of surrounding land, and combins with site situation.It takes water as the skeleton, Ming city wall as the relying, green belt as a link and nodes as the hubs and fuses the human together with the nature water system, ecol ogical landscape and the cultural ruins, so to creat the waterfront landscape with ecology, cu lture and entertainment.
