With the rapid development of road traffic, traffic accidents have become an important factor which affects people’s happiness. Dangerous overtaking is one of the important causes of traffic accident, so safe overtaking auxiliary system has become a hot topic in the field of intelligent transportation. Radar technology and technology video are often used in the early overtaking auxiliary system, which is easily influenced by external environment, detection range and so on. However, the problem can be solved effectively by short distance wireless communication technology, which brings the new opportunity to the study of auxiliary overtaking system.An auxiliary overtaking system is designed. This system selects STM32 Cortex-M3 as the main chip and TFT LCD screen and intelligent voice module as man-machine interface, which can collecting and processing vehicle information timely and achieve inter-vehicle information transceiver. Main function is exchanges information in vehicles in the opposite side and the front when to be overtaking to keep abreast of the traffic in opposite lane as well as the driving intention in front, which assist the driver to make reasonable decisions and adjust driving behavior timely to avoid danger in overtaking.The design scheme and implementation of hardware and software in this system are mainly studied. There are three parts included: First, STM32F103VET6 in 32 bits is used as the core component, to coordinate various parts work orderly and process data timely; Man-machine interface is the second part, used to receive request of the driver or display processing result; The third part which is information collection module, including GPS module and 433 M wireless communication module in medium power, are used to achieve information of self-vehicle traveling and communicate between vehicles.Operating results of the system are verified by actual vehicles, a detailed analysis of the experimental data show that the reliable communication and accurate processing can be achieved in vehicles and requirements are met.
