It is known that during a construction process, the loading torque will change frequently because of complex geology conditions. This is the main reason for the low fuel using efficiency of engine and the low conversion rate of the hydraulic system. It not only wastes energy, but also reduces the service life of the equipment. In this article, we analyzes some basic features of engine, the construction of hydraulic system and its working principle in power head system of Rotary Dring Rig.We find out that the power mismatch causes the most heavy energy loss. Then, according to the basic theory of engine-pump system, we give respective tests to adjusted speed control of the engine, and sensitive control of power, pressure, flow and loading sense of the hydraulic pump. To demonstration our theory, we established a power matching scheme which combined the engine, the variable pump and the load. It contains the rotation speed sensitive control on governor, the rotation speed sensitive control on variable pump, load-limiting control and the distinguishing condition control. At the end of the research, we built a comprehensive power matching control system of“220kN·m Rotary Drilling Rig”. Then based on AMESim a simulation model of the dynamical system was set up, which allow us to undertake an imitation test of the drilling`s energy consumption. Comparisons with the primary model showed that our comprehensive power matching control strategy can reduce fuel consumption, save energy and increases efficiency by 6%.
