In order to meet the requirements of dredging program that constructed in deep sea area and dredge hard rock material, the large dredging equipment operating in open sea are widely used. Compared with different types of dredging vessels, the large grab dredger has higher operation efficiency. It’s also suitable for deep-water areas and hard dredge materials such as gravel or coral reefs.The research object of this study is a large grab dredger with 200m3 capacity. According to the different operation states and the ocean environment, using theoretical research and numerical simulation method, the hydrodynamic performance of grab dredger operating in irregular wave is analyzed. The dynamic response analysis of ship under operation loads is also completed. The effect of barge on the hydrodynamic performance of grab dredger under different wave condition is analyzed.The hydrodynamic performance of grab dredger with mooring positioning system is calculated using the AQWA software. The domain numerical analysis of grab dredger under wave, wind and current load is completed. And the 6-DOF ship motion response and the tension response of mooring lines under different wave conditions are obtained.In mooring positioning operating states, during the lifting and turning operations of grab bucket, the stability and safety of ship are affected significantly by the high moving speed of grab, and the transient fluctuation of loading on the whole ship structure. In this paper, the dynamic analysis of ship with operation load is completed and the analysis of dynamic loads of ship under different grab height and rotation angles is finished.When the barge is berthing by the grab dredger, it is positioned by the cables between barge and grab dredger. Under wave load and operation load, the motion of grab dredger and barge will influence each other and cause big response in this paper, the influence of barge to grab dredger is analyzed and the hydrodynamic of barge under different wave condition is calculated.
