With the increase of vehicles, the society has become increasingly concerned about the safety of traffic. And by improving the lighting situation of automotive lighting system to improve traffic safety at night has gradually got attention. Traditional headlight has only one or two functions. It can not entirely meet the lighting requirements of driving at night, so the adaptive front-lighting system emerges as the times require. Our current research on adaptive front-lighting system is still in its infancy, so the significance of this paper is based on the existing achievements to research AFS, propose a feasible control method to improve the lighting effects of AFS, and provide a theoretical basis for future research.This paper introduces the various functions of the AFS and proposes the two kinds of lighting modes that this paper focuses on: bend lighting mode and basic lighting mode. It illustrates the principle of the AFS control, analyzes how the major components of the system work and selects the model of them. According to the AFS’s working requirements, this paper selects the main chip, builds the input and output circuits and motor drive circuit for the control system as the hardware basis for its work and designs the control flow for each module of the AFS, in order to meet the functional requirements of the controller. Analyzes the rules of horizontal angle and vertical angle. With the speed and angle of the front wheels as the basis and stopping sight distance as the effective illumination distance, based on Ackermann steering geometry gets the rules of light’s horizontal angle. And by combining regulations and the speed limit at different turning radius gets the limit curve of the light’s horizontal angle. Analyzes the impact of the variation of vehicle’s center of gravity height and pitch angle to the vertical angle of light and get the light vertical angle rule. According to the complexity and variability of the vehicle driving environment and the driver’s operation behavior, selects fuzzy control as the control algorithm of intelligent light system, this paper selects fuzzy control as the control algorithm of the AFS, and use SIMULINK to establish the simulation model of the control system in order to simulate the effect of the control system. Combined with the simulation results, the control algorithm is optimized and verified again. In the end, this paper got a feasible control algorithm of the AFS.
