With the rapid development of China’s social and economic level, road passenger and cargo traffic grow rapidly, highway has reached or exceeded its design capacity, and it can not continue to meet the needs of existing traffic, can not meet the highway safety and smooth, but also reduces the service level, it is to deal with the existing highway renovation and expansion, increasing the number of lanes to improve its capacity to ensure safety of highway. Renovation and expansion of the existing highway has become an important task in the field of highway construction. In this paper, the renovation and expansion plan of highway were studied based on Liuzhou to Nanning section of Quanzhou to Nanning highway.The expansion project route, technical standards and project size, natural conditions and the traffic situation of Quanzhou to Nanning highway were analyzed, it demonstrated the necessity of renovation and expansion of subgrade and pavement, bridge and culvert, interchange and other projects; from the roadbed pavement design principles, subgrade cross section and ultra-high layout mode, surface treatment, and the thickness of the pavement structure, mosaic pavement and subgrade and pavement subgrade drainage, renovation and expansion of subgrade and pavement were studied; renovation and expansion principles of bridge and culvert were analyzed and river hydrology was analyzed, renovation and expansion of large bridge, medium large bridges and culverts were proposed; the principles of interchange expansion design is expounded, renovation and expansion of the different methods and conditions applicable interchange analyzed renovation and expansion of road interchange was proposed.
