Reconnaissance pod is an external powerful tool of international modern aircrafts. The cabin design should first meet the performance specifications of electronics within cabin, and also should minimize the reduction of aircraft performance. In addition, as an electronic equipment installation platform inside the pod, the cabin should meet the requirements for strength and stiffness under operating load requirement.We have analyzed the development, general situation and key technology of reconnaissance pod at home and abroad, and determined the cabin design of a certain pod. In the early designing stage, initial pod shape is adjusted locally with CFD software to meet the requirements of aircraft aerodynamic characteristics when it satisfies the equipment load in cabin. Perform detailed cabin structure design according to aerodynamic load and pod plane load, which is offered by the aircraft research institute through wind tunnel test based on pod shape, combined with equipment installation structure in cabin. Check for the strength of cabin using UG senior simulation and engineering calculation. Finally conduct static test after the pod cabin has been produced to confirm the correctness of design and simulation results analysis.We have achieved research results as follows:The aerodynamic load and its effect on aircraft controllability are closely related to cabin shape. Aerodynamic shape can be simulated and optimized with CFD software.Cabin structure design is referenced to aircraft half shell structure design, the design of load path is the key to successful cabin design.Errors exist in both computer finite element simulation and engineering calculation. The cabin must be verified through static test as an external equipment that may affect fighter flight safety.This cabin structure design is practicable, and offers other aircraft external equipment structure design worthwhile reference.
